Reserve Your Spot for the 2025 Candlelight Christmas Night Tour

It’s that season when our home seems to glow from within and the world feels gentler. Every December I wait for dusk, when the house quiets and soft lights and candles begin to warm the rooms. Christmas at night — the flicker of flame, the twinkle of lights, the hush that settles — always slows me down and invites reflection on what truly matters.

This year I’m sharing our Candlelight Christmas Night Tour — a quiet, virtual stroll through our home after dark. No chatter, just cozy scenes to scroll, sip-your-cocoa-by-the-fire moments, and a gentle reminder to slow down during a busy season.

Home is more than a place; it’s a feeling. At Christmastime that feeling is pure magic.

Entryway

This year the entryway looks different — and not by choice. Days before I photographed the tour, a pipe burst and we began emergency water mitigation in the foyer. It turned things upside down overnight, so I don’t have as many evening shots of the entry as usual.

Still, I was glad to capture a couple of photos of the foyer lit at night before the chaos started. It’s a simple reminder that beauty can exist even when things aren’t finished or perfect — a fitting thought for this season.

Dining Room

Move a little deeper into the house and the dining room tree stands tall and twinkling. The room reads like a painting after dark — deep greens, soft whites, and warm amber light playing against the landscape mural.

I’m especially pleased with our DIY tree stand planter in this room — it anchors the tree and adds an unexpected sculptural touch. For lighting, swapping candles for rechargeable lamps was a practical and atmospheric choice; they provide a steady, warm glow that’s perfect for evening photos and cozy family time.

Media Room

The media room becomes especially sentimental at night. I kept the mantel simple and layered, with an asymmetrical garland, soft fairy lights, and candles flickering in front of the mirror above the fireplace. When the lights dim, the reflections double the glow and the room takes on a warm, golden intimacy.

The tree here might be my favorite — not for perfect styling but because it’s full of memories. Ornaments span our family history: childhood pieces, handmade decorations from the girls, and travel keepsakes. Each one tells a story, and together they create a quiet timeline that glows at night.

On the hearth I place wooden shoes that my grandfather brought back from Holland when we were little — a sentimental detail that feels especially meaningful now that he’s gone. Beneath the tree, a small pile of Christmas storybooks waits for cozy evenings of reading together. This room is all about tradition, memory, and making space for slow, meaningful moments.

Primary Bedroom

The primary bedroom felt ready for Christmas after we painted the walls a deep, moody green (Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue). Once the lights go down, the color wraps the room in a calming, cozy glow — like a warm hug.

I added a single strand of garland along the headboard, vases of winter greenery, and a few lighted branches on the dresser for subtle sparkle. The real magic here is the lamps: their warm, low light against the dark walls creates a peaceful atmosphere that invites lingering and rest.

Living Room

This year we painted the mantel a deep navy (Benjamin Moore Temptation) and added tongue-and-groove planks to the ceiling, giving the living room a richer, more luxurious feel. At night those updates come alive: darker tones ground the space while candlelight and twinkle lights soften and warm everything.

I also pulled several of my grandmother’s silver pieces from storage and polished them. Seeing them displayed again feels like having a little piece of her with us — the candlelight catches the silver in the prettiest way and adds a warm shimmer to the room.

With the tree lit and the fireplace flickering, the living room becomes the heart of our home — the place we gather for movie nights, unwind, and linger together in the soft evening light.

Walking through the house by candlelight each year reminds me that Christmas doesn’t need to be loud or hurried. It’s meant to be quiet, holy, and hopeful — a single light breaking through the darkness. My hope is that this candlelight tour offers a small pause for your season: a chance to slow down, rest your heart, and make room for what matters most.

From our home to yours, may your nights be peaceful and your Christmas filled with presence and warmth.

P.S. If you want to photograph your candlelit home, I offer Christmas Glow Presets and a nighttime photography guide to help you capture that cozy glow. I’d love to see your candlelight tours — tag me so I can enjoy your warm, flickering scenes too.
