It’s been a while since I shared printable art here, and I’m making a new goal to post more this year. I’ve been browsing public domain archives to find artwork that looks beautiful framed and brings a calm, lived-in feeling to a home. When spring arrives and trees begin to fill out, I always crave lush, leafy landscapes to echo that freshness indoors.
Recently I updated the art on the wall at the end of our upstairs hallway. This is the narrow stretch of wall right next to our bedroom — the last thing I see before going to bed — so the artwork needed to be soothing and quietly beautiful. The two prints I chose feel peaceful and grounding, and they fit the space perfectly.
Before the update, the hallway looked a little bare. A few framed prints make a huge difference for a small, everyday space, turning a simple passage into a curated corner of the home.
The two artworks I selected are classic landscape oil paintings. One is “The Heart of the Andes” by Frederic Edwin Church and the other is “Birch Grove” by Berndt Lindholm. Both images were sourced from public domain archives, lightly retouched in Lightroom for clarity and color balance, and reformatted to printable sizes.
Once I finished editing, I printed them at a local photo lab for a crisp, museum-like finish, but you can also print them on a high-quality home printer or at any print shop that offers poster or photo-quality prints. If you plan to frame the prints, consider matte or luster photo paper to avoid glare and to give the images a more authentic, painterly look.

I’m also considering adding a small picture light above the two frames to create a gallery-like focal point and add warmth to the corner. A subtle light can highlight the textures and details in oil paintings and make the hallway feel cozier in the evenings.
