8 simple and interactive sleepover ideas for a successful slumber party and how to make party prep easier using Walmart+.
It’s a big week here—our youngest turned eight. As a mom, it’s hard to accept that Olivia is already halfway to a driver’s license and only a few years away from middle and high school. To celebrate, she asked for her very first sleepover at home. We kept it small with cousins and a few close friends, and it turned out to be the perfect, low-key way to make her feel special.
Walmart+ saved the day for party planning. I ordered groceries and activity supplies for delivery, and everything arrived in time for the small gathering—exactly what I needed during a busy stretch of projects and errands.

With the party falling in the middle of a hectic week while we wrapped up a house project, delivery was a lifesaver. I’ve also been intentionally minimizing in-store trips, so getting everything brought to the door made the whole process easier and faster.

Walmart+ is a membership service that helps save time and money by offering unlimited delivery (with a minimum purchase), fuel discounts, and other convenience features like mobile checkout. For busy parents planning parties and daily errands, the membership can cut down on last-minute runs and impulse purchases.
We already had our back porch set up as an outdoor movie area, which made the sleepover feel extra-special. Using a simple projector and a few budget-friendly touches, we hosted a cozy outdoor campout movie night for the girls.
8 Creative Sleepover Ideas Perfect for Small Groups
1. Outdoor movie
Air mattresses, soft sheets, cozy blankets, and a projector create an unforgettable outdoor movie experience. We reserved an inflatable mattress and a soft sheet set to keep on hand for future sleepovers. A small, affordable projector let the kids enjoy a double feature under the stars—simple, magical, and budget-friendly.

2. Picture-frame bejeweling
Decorating inexpensive picture frames with colorful markers, glitter glue, and craft gems kept the girls engaged for almost an hour. The frames dried overnight and served as a personalized party favor they could take home the next morning.

3. Photo booth
A simple photo booth with props and an instant camera provided hours of entertainment and created keepsakes for their frames. We used foil streamers and paper lanterns as a sparkly, inexpensive backdrop and let the kids snap Polaroid-style shots to take home.

4. Spa facials and manicures
A mini spa session is a classic sleepover activity. Colorful facial masks, face wipes, and a selection of nail polishes are all you need for a relaxing, giggly spa moment. It’s nostalgic and always a hit with this age group.
5. Toss-and-talk ball game
To wind down before bed, write prompts, questions, or playful dares on a soft play ball and have the girls toss it around. Whatever prompt their right thumb lands on, they answer or perform. Questions can be simple and fun—favorite superpower, dream vacation, or silly acting challenges.

6. S’mores station
For an interactive outdoor treat, set up a small fire bowl and let kids roast marshmallows to build their own s’mores. Offer a variety of chocolates and cookies so they can experiment with different flavor combinations while watching the movie.

7. Glow-stick dance party
Before the movie, burn off some energy with a glow-stick dance party. Turn off the lights, play favorite songs, hand out glow sticks, and let the kids dance. We even did a glow-in-the-dark limbo—lots of laughter and great photos.
8. Pancake bar
For an easy breakfast the next morning, heat pre-cooked bacon and mini frozen pancakes, then lay out toppings: Nutella, peanut butter, sprinkles, fresh berries, whipped cream, butter, and syrup. The girls loved creating their own pancake stacks, and it saved me time in the kitchen.

Everything came together smoothly, and it helped that Olivia is surrounded by a warm, close-knit group of friends and cousins. Having a membership that allowed quick delivery of groceries and supplies made planning less stressful and allowed me to focus on the fun parts of hosting.
If you’re curious about membership benefits like delivery and checkout conveniences, check with your local retailer for options that fit your needs. For us, the time and stress saved made the membership worth it in just a couple of orders.
