I spent the week channeling my inner Monica Geller — and maybe watching a few too many Friends reruns — because our laundry room desperately needed attention.
This room sits between our garage and the kitchen and has a lot of awkward nooks that weren’t being used efficiently. Once we started the makeover and organization process, it became clear how much more functional the space could be with a few targeted solutions.

Because the laundry room is right off the garage and breakfast nook, it became the natural drop zone for coats, bags, and hats. Installing a few sturdy hooks cleared counters and seating areas instantly. We chose hooks with a classic finish that match our decor and added a small mirrored sign to reflect light into the darker corner, making the whole area feel brighter and more welcoming.
2. A pegboard to maximize vertical storage
This room has to handle multiple roles: laundry, pantry overflow, mudroom duties, and general household storage. Leaning the ironing board against the wall meant it was always tipping over. A simple wall-mounted hook keeps it secure, out of the way, and easy to access when needed. This small fix prevents a daily annoyance and frees up floor space.
