Sprout-Themed Baby Gender Reveal Ideas

We’re pausing our usual decorating and DIY adventures to share a personal update.

If you’ve been following along for a few months, you might already know we’re expecting—and we couldn’t be more excited to expand our family.

From the moment we discovered this new little person was on the way, we started calling them “Baby Sprout.” Olivia’s nickname is Bug (we often call her Livie Bug), so Sprout felt like a sweet, natural fit alongside hers.

Last week we finally learned Baby Sprout’s gender, and of course we marked the moment with a quick DIY photo shoot in the room that will become the nursery. We wanted something simple and playful to capture our reaction and the beginning of this next chapter.

If you’re reading this and haven’t guessed yet, here’s your last chance to take a guess. Moments like this are full of anticipation and joy—so we soaked it all in.

Funny aside: Lola snuck into one of the shots and hopped right next to me. Her expression in the photo could be read as, “Really, Mom? When will I be an only child again?”—and it was a sweet reminder that our whole household is already preparing for change.

So… Baby Sprout is a…

GIRL!!!!!

We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl this October. Her name will be Regan Emma Laine, and already she feels impossibly loved.

(A little background on the name: Regan shares initials with Robert, who also has two middle names. Her first name is a literary pick—created by Shakespeare, just like Olivia’s. “Emma” and “Laine” are meaningful family middle names passed down through my side of the family: mine, my mother’s, and my great-grandmother’s. It felt important to honor that tradition.)

Now the fun part begins: nursery planning! We can’t wait to design a cozy, calm space for Regan that fits our style and includes thoughtful, personal touches. We’re already brainstorming color palettes, storage solutions, and a mix of handmade and heirloom pieces. Expect lots of DIY projects and budget-friendly decorating ideas as we work to create a room that’s both beautiful and practical.

First on our to-do list is wrapping up Olivia’s room updates—there are a few finishing touches to complete before we move on to the nursery. Once Olivia’s room is done, we’ll dive into furniture selection, paint swatches, and the little details that make a nursery feel like home.

Thank you for sharing in our excitement. We’re so grateful for the support and can’t wait to show you the nursery progress, name ideas brought to life, and more behind-the-scenes moments as we prepare to welcome Regan Emma Laine this fall.
