We’re making steady progress on the nursery makeover, and the timeline suddenly feels very real. I’m hoping this little one stays cozy for a while — it looks like the room might come down to the wire, but we’re getting there.
If you haven’t been following along, here’s a quick look at how the room started before we began the renovation.
Over the past few weeks we applied one coat of Magnolia Home True White to the walls to prepare for DIY picture frame molding, which will add subtle architectural detail and a clean backdrop for the room’s decor.
Then a beautiful pendant arrived that completely changed the feel of the room.
The fixture is exactly the kind of lighting I wanted: a touch of glam that still feels classic and appropriate for a baby girl’s nursery. When I found this pendant at Del Mar Fans & Lighting, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

This is the 20″ Meadow Lane Pendant by Quoizel, a more refined, feminine counterpart to the industrial-style fixture we installed in Robert’s office a few years ago. For now I installed LED Edison-style bulbs, but I plan to switch to smart bulbs so I can dim or turn off the overhead light from my phone while nursing in the glider. Smart bulbs are a small convenience that make late-night feedings and bedtime routines much easier.
Getting this light installed felt like a major milestone — one more step closer to completing the nursery, even though a few important tasks remain.
Robert is currently finishing the caulking on the picture frame molding. He’s handling the remaining home improvement work (I’ve officially been benched from heavy tasks), and it’s been such a relief to hand those jobs over.

The result so far feels calm and inviting — exactly the kind of sanctuary I want the nursery to be, even through the inevitable sleepless nights. I’m hoping baby Regan picks up on that restful vibe, but either way it’s comforting to have a peaceful, beautiful space ready.
