White Floral Baby Nursery Makeover: Before and After Reveal

All-White Nursery Makeover Reveal — Classic Vintage Furniture, Anthropologie-Inspired Textures, and Floral Accents

The nursery makeover is complete, and I couldn’t be happier with how calm and charming the space feels. This all-white room blends classic, vintage-style furniture with soft textures, subtle patterns, and floral accents for a peaceful, feminine nursery designed to soothe both baby and parents.

If you’ve been following our nursery updates, you can see the full makeover journey and how this spare bedroom looked when we moved in last year.

We approached this nursery with one main goal: create a soothing environment that isn’t overloadingly pink. After our first baby’s sleepless newborn months, I wanted this room to feel restful and balanced — neutral with soft feminine details.

We made a few big changes that transformed the room. A contractor refinished the hardwood floors that had been hiding under old carpet, and Robert built the picture frame molding — one of my favorite DIY moments from the project. The molding adds subtle architectural interest while keeping the overall look light and classic.

An easy way to elevate the space was swapping the old ceiling fan for a feminine pendant light with a modern-vintage feel. It casts a warm, flattering glow and became a focal point I’d envisioned from the start.

The closet doors were in rough shape and frequently came off their track, so we replaced them and painted the new doors Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray for a soft contrast against the Magnolia Home True White walls. This subtle two-tone effect keeps the room feeling cozy without breaking the all-white aesthetic.

To soften the hardwood floors and reduce noise (because a crying newborn at 2 a.m. sounds even worse in a room with echo), we added a gray-and-white area rug. Layering rugs and textiles also brings warmth and a lived-in feel to the minimal palette.

For the crib, we chose a convertible white metal option that will transition into toddler years — a practical choice that still reads vintage and delicate. Bedding is kept minimal for safety: a pale pink printed crib sheet and a ruffled crib skirt provide softness without pillows or bumpers.

Practical tip: layer two to three alternating waterproof mattress pads and crib sheets so you can quickly remove a top layer in the middle of the night if there’s an accident, making cleanup fast and low-stress.

One of my favorite decorative touches is a felt flower swag garland. It adds a delicate, handcrafted look that feels almost Anthropologie-inspired. I briefly considered DIYing something similar but decided the detailed finish was worth purchasing.

Soft lighting for nighttime feeds comes from a slender floor lamp and a small table lamp on a handy garden-stool side table. I’ve also added a Hatch sound machine — white noise has been a game changer for newborn sleep in our house.

Artwork with desert florals and succulents brings a gentle pop of color and complements the felt flowers. Grouped prints give the wall visual interest while maintaining the room’s serene tone.

One practical lesson learned: check how bi-fold closet knobs function before screwing them in. I had a quick “pregnancy brain” moment and installed them incorrectly — an easy fix, but a reminder that small details matter.

After learning the hard way with baby number one, we invested in a comfortable glider that didn’t cost a fortune. It’s essential for late-night feedings and cuddles, and finding one that was both pretty and budget-friendly felt like a win.

For storage and changing essentials, an IKEA Hemnes dresser was updated with appliqués to give it a vintage, custom look without the risk of thrift-store odors. I also anchored the dresser — a non-negotiable safety step.

Smaller storage finds — like a lidded hamper and a tiered basket stand sprayed in champagne mist — keep diapers, lotions, teethers, and washcloths organized and within reach. A few lidded glass canisters house bows, pacifiers, and Q-tips for a tidy look.

To control light and encourage naps, we installed blackout Roman shades in a warm flaxen tone. They pair nicely with ruffled white curtains to maintain the soft, layered look while helping daytime sleep.

This room took longer to finish than I expected because I wanted to savor every detail — part of the reason it feels so personal. There’s a bittersweet edge to this project, since this may be our last nursery, but it’s wrapped in gratitude and hope for many happy snuggles ahead.
