2017 Christmas Night Candlelight Tour: Carols and Lights

Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve, everyone! I’m officially signing off for the season to enjoy some much-needed family time. The presents are wrapped, the house is clean (for now), grocery shopping is done, and somehow I managed to cross everything off my list with two days to spare. It feels like a small Christmas miracle.

These quiet evenings before Christmas are my favorite time of year. There’s something about a warm, glowing house filled with soft candlelight and the hush of expectation that feels restorative. I want to bottle up this stillness—the gentle anticipation and the cozy hush—and hold onto it long after the holiday lights are packed away.

The Foyer

Christmas Night Candlelight Tour | A candlelit foyer with neutral classic decor

Pour yourself a virtual cup of hot chocolate and join me on a slow walk through the house by candlelight. The foyer is welcoming and simple—soft textures, reflective accents, and low lighting that lets the small details shine. In candlelight, even familiar pieces feel new and warm.

The quiet of the evening creates space to reflect and give thanks. I often stay up a little later than Robert and Olivia, savoring the glow while the house sleeps. Nighttime photos are tricky, but the chance to hum along to Silent Night and be grateful for this season is worth fumbling with a camera.

Dining Room

The dining room is set for a peaceful, candlelit meal. A simple runner, clustered votives, and natural elements keep the table feeling classic and inviting. Candlelight softens the room and makes every detail—from plates to napkins—feel more intimate.

The Living Room

The living room is where the tree glows and the soft lights and candles create a peaceful backdrop for family time. We favor neutral, classic decorating—mercury glass, white ornaments, and simple greenery that catches the candlelight. The tree skirt, stockings, and a few meaningful touches make the space feel personal and calm.

Subtle holiday accents in the bedroom

The master bedroom stays simple and restful for the holidays—a boxwood wreath, layered throws, and a few seasonal accents that won’t overwhelm the calm of the room. Candlelight here feels especially restful, creating a quiet retreat at the end of a busy day.

Soft holiday still life

Wherever you are this season, I hope you find peace and comfort. May your home be warm, your moments gentle, and your time with loved ones full of quiet joy. Wishing you a merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

“I have come into the world as light, so that no one who believes in me need remain in darkness.”
