Over the years I’ve received endless requests asking if I would take on design clients. My inbox and DMs are full of decorating questions every single day — no exaggeration. I’ve always wanted to help this incredible Bless’er House community, but I also had to protect my family time and my own mental health. I repeatedly found myself saying, “Thank you for trusting me with your home, but I can’t take this on right now.” As a former teacher, it’s hard to say no when people need guidance.
How DIY Decorator School™ Happened
Two years ago it became clear: homeowners needed an all-inclusive, easy-to-follow interior decorating course. I wanted to create a comprehensive program that walks you through a complete room makeover from start to finish — teaching paint selection, mood boarding, thrifting strategies, furniture layout, style cohesion, functional solutions, rugs, window treatments, lighting, pattern mixing, accent styling, and the essential measurements designers use. Home decorating can feel overwhelming, but when you learn a repeatable process it becomes manageable, empowering, and even addictive.
So I built a course to teach you every step I use in my own projects, holding your hand through the whole process until you have a finished room you love. The point is you learn how to design for yourself, not just receive a one-off design. That knowledge pays for itself again and again.
What You’ll Learn
After two years of development and a three-month break from the blog to focus on the content, DIY Decorator School™ is ready. The course shares the room-makeover system I’ve used for a decade to save time, money, and energy.
The lessons apply to every scale of project — from a zero-budget refresh using what you already own to a large-scale renovation. While trends shift, the design fundamentals you’ll learn remain useful for life. The curriculum encourages you to honor your own style, whether it’s trendy or timeless.
Instead of handing you a final design, I teach you how to design. That empowers you to make confident choices and stretch your decorating budget further. For roughly the price of a single hour with an interior designer, you can gain skills to design every room in your home for years to come.
Extra Credit Course Bundle
If you want more support, you can upgrade to the DIY Decorator School™ + Extra Credit bundle. The Extra Credit package includes a digital spreadsheet planner and a workshop called Design Lab Partner, created for couples who want to reduce stress and avoid disagreements during home projects.
Design Lab Partner covers blending decorating styles, budgeting together, prioritizing household needs, communicating clearly, and creating a shared room makeover plan. It’s practical help for anyone tackling projects as a team.
Community Support
You can also add the DIY Decorator School™ Community, a private Facebook group reserved for students. This optional membership gives you access to personalized feedback from me and a supportive group of classmates who are working through the same process.
In the Community you can share photos, ask specific questions, receive step-by-step guidance, and gather inspiration for your unique home. Classmates offer encouragement, accountability, and occasional “home”work challenges and prizes to keep momentum going.
When Enrollment Ends
Enrollment for the Spring 2025 semester of DIY Decorator School™ closes on March 28th. I limit enrollment so every student can get the attention and information they need to complete a room — and eventually an entire home — they love. The DDS Community also closes with this enrollment period and will reopen for the Summer semester.
Complete the course and you’ll have a finished room to enjoy by summer. There’s no better time to start creating a home that inspires you and meets your family’s needs.
